The Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics China at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (KITPC) was founded on June 18, 2006 and is one of the 15 Kavli institutions worldwide. During the past ten years KITPC has been playing an important role in both furthering domestic research on theoretical physics and organizing international programs for interdisciplinary and cross-level communications.

On October 14, 2016 KITPC changed its name as Kavli Institute for Theoretical Sciences (KITS) and is hence attached to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). The mission of the KITS is to:

  •  Develop top-standard theoretical scientific research centers.
  •  Create and maintain first-rate interdisciplinary communication platforms.
  • Provide resources and support for scientific talents to carry out high-qualified research and educational activities
