Abstract:

p-wave superconductors, including both 3He-A (in 2D) and 3He-B type, are fully gapped triplet paring superconductors. In this talk, I will discuss several different responses of the p-wave superconductors when s-wave superconducting pairing exists. In the 3He-A (p+ip) case, a junction between a p- and s-wave superconductor is considered. The superconducting paring will be examined and I will show that there is an orientation-dependent spin polarization at the boundary of the junction, which can be understood by both linear response formalism and chiral edge states picture. In the 3He-B case, I will first discuss a junction between a p+is and a p-is superconductor, and show that there is a single chiral Majorana mode around the junction. In addition, the response (electrodynamics) in the bulk of p-wave superconductor will be discussed, and I will show the connection of the bulk response to the chiral Majorana mode. Finally, I will discuss the possible orbital magnetization at the surface of a p-wave superconductor.
