Abstract:
String theory provides a powerful framework to construct non-trivial superconformal field theories (SCFTs). For example, M-theory on a Calabi-Yau threefold singularity gives rise to a 5d SCFT T_{5d}, while IIB superstring on the same singularity leads to a 4d N=2 SCFT T_{4d}. In this talk, I'm going to present a novel conjecture which relates the physical data of T_{5d} and T_{4d}. I'm also going to talk about the higher form symmetry of these theories and how to compute them via geometry.
