Abstract:
Density functional theory (DFT) is widely known as an electronic band calculation tool. For strong-correlated many-body systems, could this methodology still be useful? This talk attempts to share a personal perspective based on my research experience in the past years. I will review Walter Kohn’s original thoughts of DFT, and discuss how these ideas are still vivid on the new horizon of theoretical physics.
